Collection Dayak charms PAS21193


Group of 8 ‘Jurookng’, or shamanic amulets from the Dayak in Southeast Borneo.

These small anthropomorphic wooden amulets were strung on a necklace, in combination with beads.

They were also kept by the common people for protection. All of them are from the former ‘Ten Houten’ collection.

This is shown in the typical way, with white paint. Every object in this collection is marked like this. 1st half 20th century.
