A fine old, plaited rattan basket. Kuba people, R.D.C. The four pointy corners are typical. The peg was used to anchor the basket in the grass roof of the hut. Used to store food or valuable things. 1st half 20th century. Former collection Justin Barthels, Maastricht. Please ask for price.
